Welcome!
I have a licence ès lettres in English Linguistics, English Literature, and Geography from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, a DPhil in English Language from the University of Oxford, and a Habilitation in English Philology from the University of Freiburg in Germany. In my DPhil thesis 'Modelling variation in Singapore English', I used indexicality as a framework to conceptualise the variation between Colloquial and Standard Singapore English. My habilitation thesis dealt with the language policies of Quebec, considered from a comparative perspective.
I am now Professor of English Linguistics at the
University of Regensburg. I have previously worked at Basle, Freiburg, Bangor, Oxford, and London. My teaching has included world Englishes, language planning and policy, sociolinguistics, and phonetics.
